Terms of Use — Authenticator App - 2FA & MFA
App: “Authenticator App - 2FA & MFA” on Google Play (authenticator.app.two.factor.otp.mfa.code), called Authenticator in these terms · Developer: KLapp
Effective date: October 7, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and KLapp (“we”), the developer of Authenticator. By using the app you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains what data the app uses and why.
1. The app
Authenticator makes the one-time codes (TOTP) that websites and apps ask for when you sign in with two-step verification. The codes, and the keys they are made from, are made and kept on your phone. You never create an account with us.
Authenticator is an independent app, not made, sponsored or endorsed by any service whose accounts you add to it. It is meant for adults.
2. Free use and Premium
You can use Authenticator for free: codes and features also open after a short wait, and some features need Premium. Premium is a weekly subscription that opens every code and feature right away. The app shows what is free, what needs Premium and the price before you buy. What the free version includes may change over time.
3. Subscriptions and billing
- Google Play billing. Premium is sold through Google Play and paid with your Google Play payment method. Your card details go only to Google.
- Price. The price, in your currency, is shown in the app and on Google Play's purchase screen before you confirm.
- Automatic renewal. Premium renews automatically every week, and Google Play charges the weekly price at the start of each week until you cancel.
- Free trial. Premium comes with a 3-day free trial for new subscribers. If you are offered the trial, the app and Google Play's purchase screen show it and the weekly price that follows before you confirm. When the trial ends, the subscription starts and Google Play charges the weekly price, unless you cancel before the trial ends.
- Who gets the trial. The free trial is for new subscribers. If Google Play does not offer it to your account, for example because you have had it before, Premium starts at the weekly price, and the app shows only that price, with no trial offer.
- Price changes. A new price applies to an existing subscription only as Google Play's rules for price changes allow.
4. Cancelling
- Cancel at any time in Google Play: open Google Play subscriptions, choose the Authenticator subscription and tap “Cancel subscription”. The app's menu also links to that page.
- Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription, and neither does “Delete all data” in the app. Only cancelling in Google Play stops the payments.
- After you cancel, Premium stays until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.
5. Refunds
You pay Google Play, and refunds follow Google Play's refund policies. You can ask Google Play for a refund, and you can also write to us about a charge (section 13). This does not limit any refund rights you have under the law where you live.
6. Your accounts, keys and backups
- Your accounts, keys and codes are kept on your phone, encrypted. We do not have a copy and cannot recover them for you.
- Without a backup file, Google Drive sync or another phone, nobody, including us, can recover your accounts if you lose your phone, delete the app or use “Delete all data”. Make a backup and keep it safe.
- Backup files and sync are encrypted with a password only you know. If you forget it, nobody can open them.
- Keep the recovery codes that services give you when you turn on two-step verification. They are your way back into an account if your phone is lost.
7. Using the app
- We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Authenticator on devices you own or control, under these terms and Google Play's terms.
- Use the app lawfully and only for accounts you are allowed to use. Do not resell it, get around its purchase or access checks, or copy, modify or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows.
- The app includes open-source components under their own licences, listed in the app under Licenses.
- Names and icons of other services belong to their owners and are shown only to help you recognise your accounts.
8. Other services
Google Play, Google Drive and the services whose accounts you add are run by others under their own terms. We are not responsible for them, for example if a service changes how you sign in to it.
9. No warranty
We work to make Authenticator reliable, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including that the app will always be available or free of errors, or that a service will accept a code.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, KLapp is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for losing access to an account, data or codes, and our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to what you paid for Premium in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for fraud, or your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.
11. Changes to the app
We may change the app, its features and what the free version includes, and we may stop offering it. If the app is removed from Google Play, your future subscription payments are cancelled. You can stop using the app at any time; cancel Premium in Google Play (section 4).
12. Changes to these terms and your consumer rights
We post each new version of these terms here with a new effective date. If you keep using the app after a change, the new version applies.
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
